Turn Your Website Into A Powerful Megaphone For Your Business, Bringing New Roofing leads 24/7/365

Your website should be the backbone of your marketing efforts to get more roofing leads.

Websites are the new yellow pages. The first thing people do when they want a service nowadays is to go online to find the businesses that can help them.

It should be you.

But if you don’t have a website,  if it can’t be found high in Google, if it’s old and tired or if it does a bad job of converting visitors into leads it will be your competitiors who get the job.

So in this post I’ll run through some of the problems that stop businesses getting more leads from their websites, and how to fix them.

2 Big Problems With Most Roofing Websites

Most small business websites including roofing websites have 2 huge problems.

  1. Most websites are lousy at converting visitors to leads.
  2. Most websites don’t get found on Google.

We’ll start with the conversion problems.

Beauty By Itself Is Not Enough

The problems start right at the beginning. Websites are a vitally important part of your marketing, but they’re designed by people with backgrounds in graphics and design, not marketing.

These roofing websites can be a beautiful brochure of your business but they’re not designed to get a response from visitors. And that’s what you need.

A direct response website.

One that’s designed to get a response. You need a clickable phone number at the top of the page. You need a call to action saying something like “Contact us now for a free inspection and quote”. And it’s got to be at the top of the page where visitors can see it without scrolling.

That helps you to get calls from homeowners who are ready to buy.

Turning “Lookers” Into Leads

But only 3% of homeowners who could use your services are ready to spend money right now. There’s another 40% who know they have a problem and some of them are online looking for solutions. That’s around 5 to 10 times the number of people who have their wallets out ready to spend.

They’re a fantastic source of roofing leads you can keep in touch with, nurture and turn into warm leads for your roofing business before they’re ready to buy. (If you know how!)

These homeowners come to your website, have a look at what you have to say and leave. They may never visit your website again. But what if there was a way to keep in touch with them until they’re ready to get their roof fixed?

The good news is that there is. It’s called email marketing.

You give these website visitors a free download of useful roofing information and add them to your newsletter list. Then you can regularly email them with roofing tips and examples of your work and testimonials. When they’re ready to get their roof fixed or replaced your business is going to be at the top of their mind.

The emails are set up in advance and get sent out automatically at the right times. It’s set and forget.

You could 5 to 10 times the number of roofing leads from your website without a lot of extra work.

Old Tired Looking Websites Will Lose You Leads

Another common problem with websites is that they get out of date. They’re just like your work truck. Eventually they look old and they don’t work like they used to. It’s time to update!

If your website is over 5 years old go and have a good look at it. Compare it with your direct competitors. Your roofing website doesn’t need to look like the Mona Lisa, but it should look up to date and professional. Everything should work.

Get on your computer and check out every page and all the links. If anything doesn’t work the way it should then get it fixed. It’s your reputation that’s suffering.

Check your website on your mobile phone. Over 50% of people search on phones these days. If your site doesn’t work well on a phone you’re losing a lot of potential leads right there.

While you’re at it check your direct competitor’s websites on your phone. Yours should look and work at least as good.

If Your Website Can’t Be Found On Google It May As Well Not Exist

Here’s another really serious problem.

Most websites don’t get found on Google. They’re stuck on page 2 or 3 (or worse) in the search engine results and no one ever sees them.

That is a huge problem and there’s a few ways to fix it.

Google Ads Can Bring Truckloads Of Roofing Leads Quickly and Regularly

One way to get to the top of Google is to use paid Google ads. Do it right and you can get a flood of roofing leads quickly, regularly, and for as long as you run the ads. It can give you tens of thousands of dollars of extra business every month.

Do it wrong and it’s like standing on a roof throwing money in the air. Don’t do it yourself unless you’re willing to put a lot of time into learning how to do Google ads properly and a decent amount of time into optimizing your ad campaigns. Plus be ready to spend a bit of money before you start getting it back.

If you really want to take your business to the next level consider a professional marketer for Google ads.

Google ads have to point to a website. It can be yours, or sometimes a marketer might run the ads to a special website they’ve set up.

Boost Your Roofing Leads With The Google Local Pack

Here’s another way to get your website to the top of Google so all those potential roofing leads can see it.

Get your business into the Google local pack. That’s at the top of the Google results page just under the paid Google ads. Having your roofing business listed there can make the difference between almost no leads (if you’re not using paid lead generation) and having more leads than you can handle.

For that you need a Google My Business page. Fill it out completely and optimize it with your business details, keywords, operating hours, photos, 5 star reviews…

And to get into the Google local pack it certainly helps to have a good website that’s relevant, up to date and optimized for Google.

SEO Brings Long Term Benefits, It Just Takes Time

The last way to get high in the Google search engine results page is to use Search Engine Optimization (SEO) on your website. Do SEO better than your competition and your website can rise through the ranks to be near the top of the organic (free) listings on Google.

SEO is a whole article (or book!) all by itself. It’s cheaper than paid Google ads but it’s a lot slower. And there can be a lot of competition for those top spots.

It can take 6 months or more to start seeing results. But once your website ranks highly using SEO you can have free traffic and leads for years.

Of course you can’t just get your website ranking highly in the search engines and then forget about it. You’ll need to keep it current and add relevant blog pages regularly or your site will slip in the rankings and your more aggressive competitors will start beating you.

So there’s just a few ways to get more roofing cleads from your website. It’s not the only things you can do to get more clients from your website and I’ll be covering more things you can do to get more clients in other blog posts.

It’s all competitive though, so consider using a professional marketer to get the most leads possible  and take your roofing business to new heights.

It all starts with having a professional looking direct response website.

One built by a marketer.
